CP Lawal Adebowale Assumes Duty as 46th Ondo Police Commissioner, Pledges Renewed Commitment to Security

The Ondo State Police Command has announced the official assumption of duty by the newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Lawal Adebowale, psc(+), mnips, as the 46th Commissioner of Police in the state.

CP Adebowale takes over from CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc(+), mnips, who has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The Command extended its appreciation to CP Afolabi for his dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the security and peace of Ondo State, wishing him success in his new assignment.

A seasoned law enforcement officer, CP Adebowale brings with him over 30 years of experience in the Nigeria Police Force. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Ilorin and a Master’s in Business Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). His professional journey is marked by diverse operational and administrative roles across multiple state commands, including Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Yobe, Anambra, Rivers, Cross River, Katsina, and Enugu, as well as key postings at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He has served as Divisional Police Officer, Area Commander, and Officer-in-Charge of various tactical units such as Anti-Robbery, Anti-Kidnapping, and Community Policing. He also held strategic positions as Assistant Commissioner in the IGP X-Squad and Deputy Commissioner of Police for Professional Studies at the Nigeria Police Academy. Notably, he was Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Departments (ZCID) in Zone 14, Katsina.

Between 2006 and 2009, CP Adebowale was seconded to INTERPOL as a Sub-Regional Bureau Officer, where he oversaw key portfolios including stolen vehicles, travel documents, fingerprint and DNA records, and stolen works of art. His work during this period significantly advanced international policing coordination across West and Central Africa.

Prior to his deployment to Ondo State, he served as Commissioner of Police in charge of the Force Quartermaster at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Upon assuming office, CP Adebowale expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, for the trust reposed in him. He also commended his predecessor for laying a solid foundation and pledged to build on existing efforts to improve security across Ondo State.

He assured residents of his unwavering commitment to public safety, intelligence-led policing, and robust community engagement. CP Adebowale called on traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, and sister security agencies for continued collaboration in ensuring lasting peace and security in the state.
