This week, I’m gonna be stating my honest opinion and it’s about our parents.

First of all, I appreciate all that you do for us and I pray you will reap not just from us but also from places you don’t expect (Amen)

That being said, I think I need to state my honest opinion on this issue where parents say “If I have the kind of opportunity you have, I will be better than I am”

I feel our parents are down playing the efforts of their parents (I say this with due respect)
Why do I say so?

1) You’ll all agree with me that discipline was at it’s peak during the times of our parents. Infact, if we are to compare those times with this time in terms of discipline, this generation will fail woefully because we all know this generation is spoilt.

2) Civilization is not like this in those days. There was less access to the internet and teenagers didn’t know what was obtainable compare to now that ordinary voice record of your parents verbally abusing you could get them into trouble.

3) There are so many laws and NGOs out there that are ready to take disciplinary actions against parents if they perceive or get any report that you are treating your child in a wrong way. Human right and child rights are all over now compare to those days.

4)Teachers were respected and treated as gods over children unlike these days where parents now beat teachers up for correcting their child.

5) There was less distraction in the olden days. No phones, no internet, only the rich has TV and the channels are nothing compare to what we have now.

6) Our mode of dressing is another aspect to look at. What the prostitutes wear in those days are SU’s dressing in our days. I agree old style are being reinvented but it is more revealing and razz compare to those days.

7) The rate of divorce has increased thereby also increasing single parenting. It wasn’t so in those days. Both parents stick together through thick and thin to cater for and raise the children well.

So, what are our parents talking about?
Instead of saying
“If I have the kind of opportunity you have, I will be better than I am”

They should say

“Don’t waste the opportunity you have like I did, learn from my experience and be a better version”

Your honest opinion is highly welcome in the comment section.
