FCTA Shuts Down Access Bank Branch in Abuja Over Unpaid Ground Rent

Published

on

In a bold enforcement move, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sealed off an Access Bank branch in Abuja due to the bank’s failure to settle longstanding ground rent debts.

Newslens NG reports that the action follows a stern warning issued by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who had earlier cautioned owners of properties across the capital, Access Bank included about the consequences of defaulting on statutory payments. The minister made it clear that the FCTA would not hesitate to take over properties with accumulated ground rent arrears.

As previously announced by the minister’s spokesperson, enforcement operations were scheduled to commence on Monday, and true to that declaration, the Access Bank branch in question was shut down earlier today. A bold notice affixed to the building declares it as property of the FCTA, marking a clear stance by the administration against defaulters.

This development signals a new era of stricter compliance enforcement in the FCT, with more defaulters expected to face similar actions if obligations are not met. Stay tuned to Newslens NG for exclusive updates on this developing story.
