Speaking with journalists in Lagos on Saturday, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, who also serves as the Spiritual Director of the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, revealed that two mentally challenged individuals  a man and a woman  have already been admitted after being rescued from the streets by the foundation’s dedicated rescue team.

According to him, the man was rescued from Nteje community, while the woman, who had long roamed the Onitsha Main Market area, was taken off the streets and brought to the facility for care.

“The two patients were immediately evaluated by psychiatric doctors and other health professionals, who commenced treatment without delay. They are now being cared for and provided with everything they need completely free of charge,” Obi stated. He added that the rescue team is preparing to bring in more mentally challenged individuals in the coming days.

The psychiatric hospital, located in Aguleri and built at a cost of over N1.6 billion, was commissioned on September 19 by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo. The facility offers completely free psychiatric services, including diagnosis, treatment, medication, rehabilitation, accommodation, and general welfare.

Ebuka Obi reiterated the foundation’s commitment to “creating a society where the mentally challenged are no longer abandoned on the streets but embraced, treated, rehabilitated, and empowered to live meaningful lives after reintegration.”

Earlier in April, Seraphic Homes Foundation launched the first-ever Old People’s Home and Orphanage in Mgbirichi, Imo State. Commissioned by Governor Hope Uzodimma, the state-of-the-art home provides a safe and nurturing environment for elderly persons and orphans, offering shelter, clothing, food, healthcare, and education.

Obi explained that his passion for humanitarian work began early in life, noting that the foundation’s mission is to positively impact lives by addressing financial hardships and expanding access to education. “We run various programmes supporting disadvantaged families through scholarships  up to university level  many of whom have already graduated, as well as funding medical treatments and settling hospital bills for those who cannot afford them.”

He called on individuals, organizations, and the private sector to support the foundation’s mission through donations, volunteering, and advocacy.

Obi also disclosed that plans are underway to replicate the projects across all 36 states of the federation. “Serving humanity with everything I have is my calling, and it is what I will continue to do for the rest of my life,” he affirmed.
