The story of newly commissioned Isua Police Secondary school, a reflection of Havards, Oxford schools in Akoko

It was historical moments filled with glits and Glamour on Friday 13, 2023 as a new police secondary school was commissioned in Isua Akoko under Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Recall that the newly commissioned police school makes it the second in the state after the Police Secondary School at Itaogbolu in Akure.

The Olisua of Isua Akoko, HRM Akinyele Adesunloye Oyolola III, in conjunction with the Frontline educationist in Isua Akoko, Mr S.K Ogidan, Ondo State Commissioner of Police, traditional rulers and other important personalities commissioned the newly established and well-furnished Police Secondary School, Isua Akoko in Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Speaking at the official commissioning, the Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye lauded the efforts of S.K Ogidan and (rt) CP Ade Adewale for their involvement towards the actualization of the long term dream which has now come to pass.

The highly respected monarch however urged other eminent sons of Isua Akoko to emulate them and as well join hands together to bring more developments to Akoko land.

While giving his speech at the occasion, the pioneer commandant of the Police Secondary School, ASP Udugbezi Michael explained that the main objective of the new school is to train the children the act of good behavior and conduct that are acceptable to the society and to impact upon them excellent academic activities through hard work and perseverance so that they will be successful men and women in the society.

He also added that the school was carefully located in serene environment that is conducive for learning without distractions which is mainly to encourage high level of concentration on the part of both the teachers and the students.

“The school will be well equipped with adequate and modern facilities, the school clinic is well equipped with beds, drugs and other equipment to cater for student’s health and well-being. The school hostels are spacious and very conducive for healthy living. The school temporary laboratory will be equipped and the school library will be built and well stocked with adequate and relevant text books within a year of our existence,” he stated.

The commandant urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the citadel of learning and enroll their children or wards in police secondary school Isua Akoko.

He however took time to salute Mr Samuel Kayode Ogidan for his massive contribution and the donations of the entire school buildings, claiming that they are both blessing to Isua community and Akoko at large.

The police officer was also quick to acknowledge the involvement of CP Adebowale towards the approval of the police secondary school, Isua Akoko by the Inspector General of Police.

When it was the turn of the donor to speak, the Frontline educationist and proud son of Isua Akoko frowned at nonchalant attitudes of the youths for their failure to embrace trades, farming and other menial jobs for survival and stated that they have been blindfolded by quick money syndrome.

Mr Ogidan thanked all those who contributed in one way or the other to the success of the project and reiterated his commitment towards bringing more developments to ISUA AKOKO and its environs.

The philanthropist urged individuals and corporate organizations to consider the need to join hands with government in providing infrastructure and other needs for the citizenry since government alone cannot do it.

He also used the opportunity to give a brief rundown of some of his achievements in Isua Akoko and Akoko in general.

 

In his royal remarks, the Olisua of Isua Akoko, HRM Akinyele Adesunloye Oyolola III commended Mr. S.K Ogidan, retired CP Adebowale and Nigeria Police Force for coming together to build a world class secondary school for the betterment of the society and for students to learn in a conducive environment for the benefit of humanity. He also expressed his joy with soul lifting gospel songs and urged everyone present at the occasion to jointly pray for Mr S.K Ogidan and his family, adding that they have been a huge blessing to Isua community and Akoko as a whole.

The CP Ondo State command, Oyeyemi Oyediran represented by ACP Blessing Gottoh, the Area Commander Iwaro Oka commended those behind the actualization of the laudable school project, particularly the hasty approval which was facilitated by retired CP Adebowale.


He advised that the school should be judiciously used for its intended purpose, adding that aside the fact that the police secondary school is the second of such in Ondo State, it is however one of the biggest achievements in Isua Akoko and Akoko in general.


The police boss assured parents and guardians that the school will be a historical educational foundation for their children now and in the nearest future.


The climax of the event came when a group of young talented traditional singers rendered series of melodious, highly inspiring, motivating and thought provoking Ewi to the guests which kept them glued to their seats while traditional rulers and other important guests stood up to showcase their dance steps.

The event ended on a high note as guests trooped out in numbers to witness the commissioning of the highly anticipated secondary school.

The facilities commissioned were: Administrative block, Staff quarters, Auditorium, Blocks of classroom, Boys and Girls hostel, Quarter guard, School chairs and desks, Health center, Kitchen and Toilets.
