Real Madrid reportedly agree €250 million deal to sign Kylian Mbappe
The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid saga has dragged on for years. It had looked very close to completion last year but then the Frenchman unexpectedly ended up signing a contract extension with PSG. Yet, it looks like the World Cup winner could end up wearing the Royal White jersey come next season.
Mbappe’s current deal with PSG runs for another season, with the option for a further year. But it looks like the Frenchman has already informed the Ligue 1 champions that he won’t be extending his contract with them beyond the summer of 2024.
As a result, the club have very little choice but to part ways with him this summer. Otherwise, they risk seeing him walk out as a free agent a year later. And this has opened the door to a move to Real Madrid.
As tweeted out by PSG Community, Mbappe will join Real Madrid this summer. A transfer of €250 million, including €50 million in bonuses, has been agreed.

So, it looks like Mbappe will be heading to the Spanish capital this summer, in what is great news for Real Madrid fans to say the least. He is the global superstar that the club have been missing since Cristiano Ronaldo left in 2018.
Of course, a €250 million transfer package would break the world record, if the information is indeed accurate. Now, it remains to be seen if or when the move ends up happening.
It does make sense for Real Madrid though, considering that Karim Benzema left at the end of last season. The club are in need of a first-choice centre-forward. And with all due respect to Joselu, it does feel like he would fit the role of a back up striker much better at this stage of his career.
