King Kosoko Memorial Lecture Holds Tomorrow, Sunday

The King Memorial Lecture being organized by the Lagos royal family in honour of the former King of Lagos, King Kosoko will hold tomorrow, Sunday, September 8, 2024.

This year’s lecture s themed, “The Lagos Economy in the Era of King Kosoko: A Talent of Prosperity and the Decline”, will hold 1:00pm at te Glover Hall, Lagos.

Mrs Lola Ade – John, the Honourable Minister for Tourism, will grace he occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu and his Deputy, Dr Kadiri Oabfemi Hamzat, as the Chief Hosts.

A book on the late king of Lagos, Oba Kosoko, will be unveiled during the 163 years anniversary of his famous return with his lieutenants to Lagos, and the third edition of the celebration by the King Kosoko Royal Family.

The book, authored by the Oloja – elect of Lagos, Prince Abiola Kosoko, is titled, “King Kosoko: His Life, His People and Settlements: The Hidden Facts”, will be unveiled at the King Kosoko Memorial Lecture on September 8, at the Glover Hall, Lagos.

The Memorial Lecture, which will also feature the unveiling of the royal family’s anthem, is part of the weeklong activities lined up to commemorate the anniversary.

His Royal Majesties, Oba Rilwan Osuolale Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom and Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, Olu of Epe Kingdom, are the royal fathers of the day.

The flamboyant Erelu Abiola Dosumu, the Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos will be the Mother of the Day.

Eminent personalities and seasoned scholars are slated to discussed at the memorial include: Pa. Lateef Olufemi Okunnu, SAN, CON; Pa. Tajudeen Olusi; Prince Fuad Alade Oki, Hon. (Chief) Oyinlomo Danmole and Her Excellency, Alhaji Sinatu Ojikutu, former Deputy Governor, while Prof. David Aworawo, Department OF History and Strategic Studies, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Adewunmi J. Falode, Department of History and International Studies Lagos State University (LASU) and Prof. Sanni Habeeb Abiodun, Lagos State University, Member of Isale-Eko Descendent Forum, will present papers.
