King Charles strips PR guru, Anthony Bailey of his OBE Title for divorcing wife
Anthony Baily, the ex-husband of Princess Marie-Therese von Hohenberg from Austria, has been stripped of his OBE by King Charles as a result of their bitter divorce
King Charles has stripped an OBE from Anthony Bailey as a result of his bitter divorce from Princess Marie-Therese von Hohenberg from Austria.
Mr Bailey was awarded the gong by the late Queen in 2008 for his services to inter-religious relations and charity. He was known by a number of famous faces and Royal Family members and he was even part of Lord Nicholas Windsor’s wedding at the Vatican.
However, last year he was handed a 12 month prison sentence when he was found in contempt of court for breaching his divorce agreement with Princess Marie-Therese – the great-granddaughter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination brought on the First World War.
The pair married in 2007, but the princess started divorce proceedings in 2019, which reached the High Court drama last year, but he remained in Portugal. Mr Bailey told the MailOnline: “[The divorce proceedings] have seen me lose everything I’ve ever had in Britain, from my home, my job and even access to my beloved son.
“This latest news will no doubt bring great joy to my ex-wife. It is yet another illustration of what is fundamentally wrong with the deeply flawed divorce process in Britain and why its overhaul is long overdue.”
Mr Bailey had denied contempt of court allegations, but Mr Justice Peel ruled in Ms Hohenberg Bailey’s favour at a public hearing in the Family Division of the High Court in London last year.
Earlier today it was reported Prince Harry’s relationship with King Charles and Prince William remains “firmly rooted at rock bottom” and reconciliation is a “long way off”, an insider has claimed. In a matter of weeks, Harry will be back in the UK to attend a charity awards ceremony and will be in the country at the same as his estranged father and brother. But despite this, the trio are not expected to meet up.
Insiders confirmed neither the King nor William has plans to see Harry, while he has ‘no intention’ of visiting them on his whistle-stop stay, which features an appearance at the WellChild Awards on the eve of the first anniversary of the late Queen’s death.
Even though the poignant date could have proved to be the perfect time for the royals to start repairing relations, an insider has dismissed any hope of this. They said: “While some may suggest it would be good order for the family to settle their differences, perhaps even in the late Queen’s memory, things are a long way off.”
The last time Harry was with Charles and William was at the King’s Coronation on May 6. The brothers also joined their wives Kate and Meghan as they viewed flowers at Windsor Castle before the Queen’s funeral.
