Rick Ross Arrested Over Alleged Assault On Woman In Miami

American rapper and music executive, William Leonard Roberts II, popularly known as Rick Ross, has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over allegations that he assaulted a woman and restricted her breathing during a domestic dispute.

The 50-year-old rapper voluntarily surrendered to Miami Beach police on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following an investigation into an alleged incident at his Star Island residence on August 28.

According to police records, the matter was reported to authorities on September 29, about a month after the alleged incident.

Ross is facing one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery, according to court records.

The woman, who police said had been in a relationship with Ross for about a year and was living with him at the time, allegedly told investigators that the rapper became angry after she was tagged in an Instagram photograph.

She alleged that Ross questioned her about the photograph before slapping her in the face.

According to the arrest affidavit, the confrontation later continued in a bathroom, where the woman alleged that Ross struck her several times in the chest and twisted the collar of her hoodie around her neck, restricting her breathing.

She further alleged that he pulled her by her ponytail, slammed her against a wall and struck her in the face, resulting in an injury to her lip.

The woman reportedly provided police with photographs of injuries she said she sustained during the incident. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage from the property as part of their inquiry.

Ross appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer for a bond hearing on Thursday, where his lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.

The judge set his total bond at $5,000 and ordered him to have no direct or indirect contact with the woman involved in the case.

Ross was also ordered to stay away from her home, workplace and school, while being prohibited from possessing firearms during the pendency of the case.

He subsequently posted bond and was released.

Speaking after his release, Ross denied the allegations, describing them as fabricated.

His attorneys, Bradley Horenstein and Steve Sadow, also maintained that the rapper had been wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend and urged the public not to prejudge the case.

“Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges,” his lawyers said, according to reports.

Ross, known for hit songs including Hustlin’ and albums such as Port of Miami, is also the founder of Maybach Music Group, which has been associated with artists including Meek Mill, Wale and French Montana.

His arraignment has been scheduled for October 22, 2026.
