Three killed As Thugs Attack Hausa Community In Osun clash
Three persons were feared dead in Ede, Ede North Local Government Area of Osun after a notorious gang attacked Hausa community on Tuesday.
The incident started on Monday when the thugs who had allegedly been collecting money from Sabo residents met the anger of Hausa community in the area.
According to reports, the thugs were led by the second-in-command to a notorious thug, simply Identified as Rasheed Oko-Ilu, whom the police had declared wanted over a series of criminal allegations.
During the clash, three of the hoodlums were killed, including their leader.
The Seriki Hausa in Ede, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim, who confirmed the attack, said the hoodlum assaulted traders in the market, including Yoruba traders.
He said the thugs have been terrorising the people of the town, including the Hausa, adding they have been disrupting the peace of the community.
Seriki added that some properties were stolen, while many commodities were destroyed by the thugs.
“The situation is calm now. We thank the Commissioner of Police for the quick intervention and the OC anti-cultist, the boys have been with us for days now to keep everything calm. We thank the Governor too and the Ede community people for their support,” Seriki said.
Confirming the incident, Osun Police Command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola said some hoodlums invaded Sabo community in Ede and seized motorcycles belonging to some Hausa residents.
“However, the people in the community resisted them leading to pandemonium in the area and in the process one person was killed,” he said.
