Seun Kuti also warned those saying he was chasing clout to mind their business and not let the police officer lose his job
Seun Kuti, Nigerian singer and the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has explained why he slapped a police officer in a recent viral video.
TheNiche had reported that the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba ordered the arrest of the Afrobeat star after assaulting the police operative on duty.
The IGP’s directive was disclosed in a statement made available by Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The statement read: “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was
captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform,”

Reacting to the development via his Instastory, Kuti said the officer attempted to kill him and his family members.
He also claimed that the policeman has apologised and he has forgiven him.
He went on to warn those saying he was chasing clout to mind their business and not let the police officer lose his job.
Kuti wrote, “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.
“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job,” [sic].
Also speaking on the order to arrest him on his social media page on Saturday night, the singer said he welcomed the investigation
He wrote, “I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”
