Police Clarifies Reported Sack Of Osun CP Ahead Of State Governorship Election
The Police has denied the reported sack or redeployment of the Osun State Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode few days before the governorship election in the state.
A statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the Inspector-General Of Police, Usman Alkali Baba didn’t sack CP Olokode as widely reported in some quarters.
According to the Force PRO, Olokode was simply temporarily recalled to the Force Headquarters until the Osun guber elections are concluded in the spirit of transparency and proactiveness.
He added that senior police officers have been deployed to Osun State to supervise the election and provide security engagements for the election exercise and Olokode will return to his post after the elections.
The statement entitled ‘CP Osun was never fired or redeployed by IGP’ reads: “CP Olawale Olokode was just temporarily moved to the Force Headquarters pending the conclusion of the guber election when he would return to the State. This is contrary to the misinformation making the rounds.
“We want to be as transparent, professional and proactive as possible in all our engagements and operations in the Osun Gubernatorial Election, hence the deployment of senior officers from the FHQ to oversee the election security in the state.
“The IGP has ordered necessary deployment of both human and material assets to fortify the state for the exercise,”
Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
