In a press release, the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, Jr., MHR, clarified that the vehicles are not personal gifts to the members, but rather operational vehicles to be used for official duties. He also emphasized that the allocation of vehicles is in accordance with extant procurement laws and is not peculiar to the Legislature.

In a bid to ensure transparency and accountability, the House has resolved to maintain a respectable distance from the Executive arm of government in all matters relating to the logistical aspects of oversight functions.

The House also reiterated its commitment to reducing the cost of governance, and pointed out that the percentage of the component of the Legislature’s budget as part of the national budget has been on a downward trend over the past decade.
