The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently walked out of a meeting with the Presidential Steering Committee on subsidy palliatives at the Aso Villa in Abuja.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss the demands of the labour union regarding fuel subsidy removal and the implementation of palliatives for workers.

However, the meeting could not proceed due to a lack of quorum and the absence of government officials from the subcommittees responsible for briefing the committee on their plans.

The NLC accused the federal government of using the meetings as a pretext to deceive Nigerians and expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of preparation and respect shown towards the labour organization.

The Chief of Staff’s office, Femi Gbajabiamila, was present at the meeting but later left to attend to other official duties.

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) representatives were also delayed at the State House entrance gate for clearance.
