Bandit Leader, Dogo Gide Finally releases 30 FGC Abducted Students, Teacher after Six Months in Captivity

Thirty students and one teacher of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri have arrived Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital following their release by bandits’ leader Dogo Gide.

They were released after 207 days in captivity. Dozens of students and some of their teachers were abducted from the school, a development that put their parents and relatives in fear and uncertainty.

Those freed yesterday were the last set to come home.

There were reports that one of the students died while in captivity.

Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser Media to Governor Atiku Bagudu confirmed their release in a statement last night.

He said the victims would undergo medical screening and support while being re-united with their families.

It will be recalled that on Thursday, October 21, 2022, 30 students of the same school were released and taken to Birnin Kebbi. They were reunited with their families .

“We thank all security agencies and those who have helped in securing the release, while congratulating Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari for the success,” the statement said.
